As long as we’re talking about James Mangold…

Look, I have a huge comic book collection. Most of it Marvel.

And I am sick to death of these Marvel movies. Sorry. It’s not so much that I think they’re bad – by and large, they’re very well-crafted, very entertaining – but they all seem of a piece to me at this point.

(the Dr. Strange I enjoyed was never a smart-ass, though)

Maybe it’s the CGI.

Maybe it’s the fact that I’m too familiar with the mythology – or at least, the classic mythology, the boomer 60s/70s/80s mythology.

Whatever. This movie I loved, though. Because the stakes are real. People die in this one. People you care about. They don’t come back. It’s kind of like life.

Big recommend.
